Sustainable Ruminant Genetics (SRG) was delighted to attend the 2026 Clogher Valley Show, where the team spent the day meeting farmers and discussing the opportunities available through the Bovine Genetics Project (BGP).
Although persistent rain made for challenging conditions, it did little to dampen spirits, with large crowds continuing to attend the show and visit exhibitors. As the weather cleared later in the afternoon, the showgrounds were transformed by a warm summer evening, creating a fantastic atmosphere for exhibitors and visitors alike.
Based in the Cattle Arena, the SRG stand welcomed a steady flow of farmers from across Northern Ireland who were keen to find out more about the BGP ahead of the Genotyping Scheme launch on the 1st of September 2026.
Visitors had the opportunity to speak with the SRG team about the benefits of genomic technologies, ask questions about scheme eligibility and registration, and receive live demonstrations of the SRG User Portal. The demonstrations showcased the range of reports and genomic information available to support more informed breeding and purchasing decisions and improve herd performance.

Despite the wet weather, the level of interest throughout the day was incredibly encouraging, and it was great to see so many people taking the time to visit the SRG stand. The conversations we had reinforced the growing momentum behind the project, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support farmers as we approach the launch of the Genotyping Scheme on the 1st of September.”
