Once you have collected your genotyping samples, you can track its progress through the ‘Genotype Tracking’ page in the SRG User Portal.

Step 1 – Send Your Samples

Once your samples are collected, place them in the pre-addressed pink envelope provided by your tag supplier.

Returning your samples you can either:

  1. 📮 Post your samples using tracked postage to help ensure they reach the laboratory safely.
  2. 📍 Drop them off free of charge at participating veterinary practices, Fane Valley stores and Joseph Walls stores (Find your closest drop off point from our map → HERE)

Please Ensure:

  • Only include genotyping samples (pink vials); DO NOT include BVD samples (white vials) in the pink envelope.
  • Samples are securely packaged to help prevent damage during transport.

Note: Please allow extra time for results when using a drop-off point

Samples left at a designated drop-off point may take slightly longer to reach the SRG Genotyping Laboratory, as collections take place periodically. Samples may be collected from drop-off points approximately once a week, transferred to a sorting centre and then dispatched to the laboratory, where genotyping can begin.

Please allow for this additional transit time when awaiting your results. The time taken to receive results will depend on when your samples are deposited and collected.

Step 2 – Check the Genotype Tracking page

Log in to your SRG User Portal, select the ‘Genotyping’ heading and go to the ‘Genotype Tracking’ page. Here, you will see the current status of your samples. Your status will change as your samples moves through the process.
