Sustainable Ruminant Genetics (SRG) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Bovine Genetics Project (BGP) and the new Genotyping Scheme through the SRG User Portal.

The Bovine Genetics Project is open to all cattle keepers in Northern Ireland, including both breeding and finishing enterprises. The project aims to support genetic improvement across the beef and dairy sectors by providing farmers with access to valuable genetic information that can help improve herd performance, inform breeding decisions, and support a more sustainable and profitable future for the industry.

While registration for the Genotyping Scheme is now open, farmers should note that genotyping activity under the scheme will commence from 1 September 2026.

Why Register?

Participation in the Bovine Genetics Project will provide farmers with access to genetic tools and information that can support better herd management decisions and contribute to the long-term development of Northern Ireland’s cattle population.
